Maddox didn't come to her office the next morning. Instead, an email arrived — sent from his account to hers, but written like a cry for help: They know. I have to go. Meet me at the old supply shed at 2300. Come alone.
Walter found her reading it. "Trap," he said immediately.
"Maybe. Or maybe he can't say it openly."
"Angela—"
"I have to go, Grandpa. If he's in danger—"

"Then wait outside. If I'm not out in 10 minutes… you come in."
