Chapter 7 - The Pattern

By midnight, the pattern was clear. Every quarter, large batches of equipment logged as "damaged beyond repair" or "lost in training exercises." The same dates coincided with shipments to a private logistics company — Miller's company. He'd resigned six months before Walter's retirement and started it.

"He didn't leave the service," Angela realized. "He took the contracts with him."

Walter leaned over the kitchen table. "And Maddox stayed behind to keep feeding the pipeline."

They had dates. Times. Item numbers. But they didn't have proof of delivery. No shipping records. No direct link.

"We need the physical transfer logs," Walter said. "The ones they keep off-book. Maddox keeps a separate notebook — I've seen it. He carries it everywhere."

"He keeps it in his desk," Angela said. "Locked drawer."
