The Wing Commander read the statement in the main hangar. Silent room after silent room.
Finch stood at attention. No uniform — civilian clothes. He faced the formation.
"I failed this squadron," he said, voice steady. "I failed my son. And I failed every standard we swore to uphold. There are no excuses. Only responsibility."

Cameron Finch stepped forward before anyone moved. "I accept responsibility too," he said. "The deviation. The near-miss. I knew it was wrong. And I let my father fix it. I'm sorry."
