Chapter 14 - The Wings Returned
A week later, the squadron gathered again. The Wing Commander pinned Bethany's wings back on himself — new ones, identical to the old.
"They were never truly taken off," he said. "They were waiting for you to prove they belonged there."
He turned to Zoe. "Airman Feld — you have been reassigned. To squadron operations. Lead radio operator. Effective immediately."
The formation cheered. Not a polite sound — genuine, loud, long-overdue.
