Chapter 6 - The Fall

---

Victor's hands closed around my throat.

I couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. Couldn't do anything but claw at his fingers.

"You think you've won?" He was screaming now. Spit flying. Eyes wild. "You think this changes anything?"

I couldn't answer. Black spots danced in my vision.

"Dad built this family. I protected it. And you... you destroyed it."

His grip tightened.

Then—sirens. Loud. Close.

Victor's men ran. But Victor didn't move. He just stared at me. Hate in his eyes.

"I'll kill you," he whispered. "I'll kill you and your son. I'll—"

A shot.

Victor's head snapped back. His grip loosened. He fell.

Sarah stood behind him. Gun drawn. Smoke curling from the barrel.

"You okay?"

I nodded. Couldn't speak. My throat was raw.

She kicked Victor's gun away. Cuffed him. Read him his rights.

He was still alive. Barely. The bullet had grazed his temple.

"You're going to live," Sarah said. "You're going to stand trial. You're going to rot in prison for the rest of your life."

Victor looked at me. Blood streaming down his face.

"I'll find you," he whispered. "I'll find you both."

Then he passed out.

The trial was a circus.

Victor's lawyers tried everything. Bribery. Intimidation. Delay tactics.

But Sarah had the recording. She had the ledger. She had witnesses—Victor's own men, who flipped when they realized they were facing life in prison.

Victor was convicted on all counts. Three counts of murder. Conspiracy. Racketeering.

He was sentenced to life without parole.

When the judge read the verdict, Victor looked at me. One last time.

"I'll find you," he mouthed.

Then they led him away.
