Chapter 17 - The Illegal Pill Network
Owen woke up tied to a dining chair.
Eli had used an extension cord.
Mr. Zhou criticized the knot.
Maya criticized the legality.
Eli criticized his lack of rope.
Owen finally talked when Mr. Zhou placed the violet vial on the table.
“I didn’t have a choice.”
“Everyone says that after the zip ties,” Eli said.
Owen had been buying Void stimulants for months.
They boosted cultivation temporarily.
They also damaged meridians, increased aggression, and created dependency.
Lucas Vane’s people supplied them to students.
In exchange, users performed favors.
Stealing talismans.
Tracking rivals.
Breaking into apartments.
Maya’s jaw clenched.
“How many Night Class members?”
“Six.”
Mr. Zhou’s face went still.
Eli’s system flashed.
[FACTION QUEST]
Expose the Void network without triggering campus retaliation.
Reward: 50 Defiance, Qi Gathering breakthrough aid.
Eli stared.
“Without triggering retaliation sounds difficult.”
[YES.]
Owen looked at him.
“Who are you talking to?”
“My bad decisions.”
They could not simply accuse Lucas.
The Vane Foundation funded half of Riverside’s cultivation programs.
They needed evidence.
Maya suggested following a delivery.
Eli smiled.
Everyone looked at him.
“What?” she asked.
“I deliver things professionally.”
Mr. Zhou sighed.
“No.”
The system chimed.
[NEW SIDE QUEST: INFILTRATE THE DISTRIBUTION ROUTE.]
Eli pointed at his phone.
“My bad decisions disagree.”
Three nights later, QuickDrop offered him a strange cash delivery.
