Chapter 14 - Tasha Refused to Be a Damsel
Mason wanted to rescue Tasha immediately.
Ivy wanted to surrender herself.
Tasha wanted neither.
Her phone suddenly switched to a second recording she had scheduled before being captured.
"If you're watching this, I got kidnapped," she said. "Which is rude because I was supposed to be off at eleven."
Mason leaned closer.
Tasha continued.
"Do not trade Ivy for me. The old lady thinks I'm regular staff. I stole a keycard off one of her guys. Also, her basement has terrible Wi-Fi."
She held up the keycard.
"Come get me after I make this inconvenient."
The video ended.
Ivy blinked.
"I like her."
"Everyone does except management."
The Ledger revealed a new quest.
[RESCUE WITHOUT EXCHANGE.]
[BONUS: LET HOSTAGE CONTRIBUTE TO OWN RESCUE.]
Mason laughed.
"The system likes her too."
They traced the basement to an old casino warehouse beyond the tourist district.
Before entering, Ivy taught Mason one basic cultivation method.
"Breathe fortune into the meridians. Don't force it."
"What happens if I force it?"
"Internal bleeding."
"Great meditation app."
His three copper meridians brightened.
Strength rose from 8 to 12.
Agility from 9 to 13.
Then a crash sounded inside the warehouse.
A man flew through a window.
Tasha climbed out after him holding a folding chair.
"What took you so long?" she shouted.
