Chapter 29 - The Data Center Cultivators

The Clearinghouse node hid beneath a sports analytics company that claimed to predict game outcomes using machine learning.

It actually predicted them using stolen fate.

Mason found that offensive on several levels.

"At least call it magic learning," Tasha said.

Security cultivators filled the basement.

This time Mason did not run.

Silver qi moved through nine open fate meridians.

Thread Sight mapped every attack.

Empty Pocket Step placed him in the gaps.

Housekeeper's Reversal Palm redirected force rather than meeting it.

He fought like someone who had spent years surviving crowded kitchens: use the space, use the obstacle, never waste motion.

Ivy's misfortune broke weapon arrays.

Tasha used a fire extinguisher with alarming enthusiasm.

Raymond hacked the node using what he insisted was "ancient formation logic" and what looked suspiciously like Python.

They reached the core.

A golden wheel fifty feet wide spun beneath the floor.

Millions of fortune threads fed it.

Mason opened his Karma Vault.

"How much can it hold?"

The Ledger answered.

[UNKNOWN.]

"Helpful."

He touched the wheel.

Every stolen possibility in Las Vegas rushed into his body.

His knees buckled.

[KARMA VAULT 100%.]

[220%.]

[490%.]

Ivy screamed, "Mason, let go!"

He could not.

The wheel had started draining him back.
